Claudia A. Keyian received her bachelor’s degree in Music Education with a major in piano, minors in both organ and voice and a concentration in choral conducting. A Dean’s list student at Westminster, Claudia won the college’s concerto competition during her sophomore year. She was awarded numerous music and academic scholarships, including the prestigious Presser Award for being the outstanding music major during her senior year. Claudia has also done graduate work in the areas of piano pedagogy, piano performance, and early childhood music education.
Claudia’s teaching experience is extensive. She was the first musician to introduce early childhood music to the seacoast area through her innovative Mommy/Daddy & Me Music program. For thirteen years, she served as Young Church Choir and Teen Choir director at the First Religious Society Unitarian Universalist in Newburyport, and has experience teaching grades PK-12 in a school setting as well. In these capacities, Claudia has worked with students of all ages.
As a collaborative pianist, Claudia has had the honor and privilege of working with such notable musicians as Tom Hill, clarinetist; Amanda Hardy, oboist; Emily Rome, violist; Deborah Rentz-Moore, mezzo-soprano; Don Wilkinson, bass-baritone; and internationally acclaimed soprano Jayne West. Working with musicians who are foremost in their field is a testament to Claudia’s musicianship.
Currently, Claudia runs a piano studio in her home. She is the Music Director, organist and choir director at First Parish Framingham and serves as organist/cantor at Star of the Sea in Salisbury and Holy Family in Amesbury. Claudia teaches music to young children through the Community Action program. Additionally, Claudia is a highly sought-after collaborative pianist.
